TBE Youth

Young people at Temple Beth El participate in the TBE community in a variety of ways:

MITZVAH MAKERS: Mitzvah Makers is a community service/social action group for Jewish sixth through eighth grade students in the greater Stamford area. We have a monthly program, often partnering with other Jewish and community social service organizations. Each program is tied to a Jewish teachings and practices.

STUDENT MADRICHIM: Students in grades eight through twelve can volunteer to be madrichim (teacher’s assistants) at Kesher Beth El, our Sunday morning educational program for children in preschool through grade seven.

SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: Teens at TBE participate in special activities and programs just for them. These activities include the annual teen trip to the tour the Jewish Lower East Side of New York City, the Hanukkah Dinner After Party, a teen sleepover at the temple. Other social activities include trips to escape rooms, the go-kart center, laser tag, bowling, museums, theater, movies, and more.

PARTICIPATING IN THE SPIRITUAL LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION: TBE teens periodically help lead prayers and chant Torah at Shabbat and holiday services throughout the year. We also have an annual teen led Shabbat morning service.

SOCIAL JUSTICE/COMMUNITY ACTION: TBE teens participate in local community activities, often partnering with youth in the greater Stamford community of varying demographics, ie: Jewish, Christian, African American, and Muslim.

VOLUNTEER WORK: Teens often volunteer to help out with special TBE community volunteer programs, including food and clothing drives, our Shabbat service to honor Veterans Day, our Hanukkah Shabbat dinner, serving Christmas dinner at local shelters, and more.
