Rabbinic Application Submitted
October 15, 2023
The TBE search committee has filed its application for a new senior rabbi to the Rabbinical Assembly’s Career Center, which oversees the placement process for RA members and assists congregations that are searching for rabbis. The application consisted of an extensive and wide-ranging set of questions, from the skills the congregation would like its new rabbi to have, descriptions of our community, to issues involving compensation and benefits. Here’s a small sampling:
- Out of the 21 skills/qualifications listed below, please identify up to five (5) that are necessary for the position for which you are hiring.
- What do you see as the top initiatives/responsibilities for your new rabbi?
- What role do you want the rabbi to play in leading the congregation, at board meetings and in synagogue leadership?
- What do you want your next rabbi to change? What do you want them to preserve?
- Please describe your Jewish community (not just your synagogue), including population and key institutions.
- Please describe your general community, including population, lifestyle, weather, and economy.
- What are the core values and principles of your congregation? Please include links to your mission/values/vision statements.
- Please share a recent example of your synagogue demonstrating one of its strengths.
- How are new members welcomed and integrated into your congregation?
- Please describe prayer and spiritual life at your synagogue
We were very much guided in our answers to questions concerning our new rabbi to the input you provided us in our recent surveys and focus groups.
Note: Rabbis who are looking for positions as senior rabbis will be able to see our application on the Career Center’s job board and can submit their resume and personal statement to us.
